Golovkin the phenomenon

Por 20/06/2013

Undoubtedly, the best thing in boxing is the knock out. There there have been many strong punchers that have delighted us through time with their triumphs. Today I want to highlight one of most feared man in boxers for his devastating punch, his name is Gennady Golovkin.

Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23 KO’s) who is at present the WBA Middleweight world champion, has made 7 successful title defenses winning all of them before term. In the first three months of the year has defended twice and is ready to make another defense on June 29, against Matthew Macklin.

He had a first class amateur career. He ran over any contender who dared to be in front of him,  like Daniel Gaele, Andre Dirrell, Lucian Bute y Andy Lee just to mention a few. He also won the gold medal in 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

I said feared because when the WBA ordered the Interim Champion Hassan N’Dam to fight the mandatory contender Golovkin, N’Dam and his managers decided to give up his title.

When the Australian Daniele Gaele defeated the super champion Felix Sturm, the WBA ordered the mandatory fight between the new champion Gaele and Golovkin. However, Gaele did no accept to fight Golovkin and the WBA had to withdraw recognition as champion.

Golovkin has managed to invade the North American boxing market fighting in the Madison Square Garden thanks to the promotion of HBO, seeking to gain more and more fans in this difficult market. He has often said he wants to fight the best boxers of the moment, Sergio Martinez, Andre Ward, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. among others.

There is no doubt that Gennady Golovkin is a strong puncher, who passed from  the anonymity to be on the most feared boxers, and with the HBO backing him up, we could see this star fighting the biggest figures of boxing at present, because in each of their presentations wins more fans who like his devastating punching power.

¡Regards and see you soon!
