Rumble on JamRock Press Conference

SportsMax announces title sponsors, entertainment package and ticket sales outlets

KINGSTON, Jamaica (November 8, 2012):The fighters for ‘Wray and Nephew Rumble on JamRock’, Jamaica’s Nicholas ‘Axeman’ Walters, WBA no. 1 ranked contender and Colombia’s Daulis Prescott, WBA no. 5 ranked contender, came face to face for the first time on Thursday at the pre fight press conference held at the Wyndham, Kingston, Ballroom 1. Their appearance has set the tone for what is shaping up to be the main attraction for the holiday season, with the 2 set to battle for the vacant WBA featherweight title on December 8, at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

Promoters and broadcasters, SportsMax announced that Wray and Nephew are on board as title sponsors of the bout. This partnership comes as no surprise, as Wray and Nephew has played a major role in reviving boxing in Jamaica, with the aim of exposing local talent and reawakening interest in the sport. This is the common objective that SportsMax, Wray and Nephew and JBBC share and they are pulling out all stops to ensure that this materialises through Wray and Nephew Rumble on JamRock. Other sponsors are Advantage Generals, Wyndham Hotel and The Gleaner are also on board as sponsors.

The event promises an exciting entertainment line-up with the best of 3 worlds, food, music and sports. The gates will open at 5pm, and fans will be kept entertained with 6 preliminary fights, 5 international and 1 local, interspersed with music by Renaissance and live performance by Sizzla and other artistes.

These preliminary bouts include; WBA Super Bantamweight, former champion Ricardo Cordoba (Panama) v Onalvi Sierra (Colombia), WBA Featherweight Title fight, with champion Kina Malpartida (Peru)v Stacey Reile(USA). The other bouts will feature WBA Super Middleweight Fedelatin Title Fight, Mauricio Reynoso, WBA Super Bantamweight, Yoandris Salinas as well as the 2011 Wray and Nephew Contender Middleweight Champion of Jamaica Rikardo “the surgeon” Smith.

“Patrons with ringside VIP tickets and Club VIP tickets can treat their appetite to a variety of food and beverages in the VIP lounge and rest assure that they will not miss a moment of the action, as they can watch from screens surrounding the venue,” stated Tanya Lee, SportsMax regional marketing manager. She added “there will be a little something for everyone. Refreshment will be on sale for persons in general admission, and our side walk cafe is open to all to sit in and eat in comfort. Patrons can be expected to be treated like celebrities from the moment they walk into the venue, until they moment they leave.”
