Press, October.- The World Boxing Association regular champion, the Russian Alexander Povetkin defeated by  TKO in the second round, the former World champion Hasim Rahman, on Saturday night at the Alsterdorf Sporthalle, Hamburg, Germany.

The challenger came out pressing in round one. Povetkin was cautious keeping close defense and jabbing carefully.

In the second round, the Russian began throwing punches since the very beginning, disregarding Rahman jab. Suddenly Povetkin threw a bullet to Rahman’s head that made him stumble backwards. Povetkin went for “the kill”, unleashing all sorts of combinations to Rahman who was already against the ropes.   In a confusing moment, the referee the Panamanian Gustavo Padilla stops the actions to separate them. But then, once again Povetkin goes forward landing upper twice as strong left punches that forced Padilla to stop the beating.

Alexander Povetkin is still undefeated in 25 fights with 17 KO's. Hasim Rahman’s record is now 50-8-2 and 41 KO’s.

As undercard, the WBA Intercontinental super welterweight of the World Boxing Association, the Ecuadorian Jack Culcay, successfully defended his belt by TKO in 5 rounds the English Mark Thompson.

Jack Culcay is still undefeated in 13 bouts with 9 KO's. Mark Thompson dropped his record to 24-2 with 14 KO’s.

El campeón mundial regular pesado de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (AMB), el ruso Alexander Povetkin venció, por nocaut ténico en el segundo asalto, al ex doble ex campeón mundial estadounidense, Hasim Rahman, el sábado por la noche en el Alsterdorf Sporthalle de Hamburgo, Alemania.

El retador salió presionando con mucha efectividad en el primero. Povetkin fue muy cauteloso, manteniendo la defensa hermética y tirando con cuidado.

En el segundo, el campeón ruso comenzó a soltar las manos desde el inicio, sin importarle el jab de Rahman. Cuando de un instante, Povetkin asestó un demoledor volado de izquierda a la cabeza, que dejó al ex campeón mundial retrocediendo y trastabillando. De inmediato, Povetkin se fue por el “kill”, desatando toda clase de combinaciones, ante un Rahman contra las cuerdas. En un momento confuso del amarre, el réferi panameño Gustavo Padilla detiene la acción para separarlos. Pero, una vez mas, Povetkin se fue encima, conectando un oper y dos veces mas fuertemente con la izquierda, lo que obligó a Padilla a detener la golpiza.

Alexander Povetkin avanzó su invicto a 25-0 y 17 KO's. Hasim Rahman quedó con marca de 50-8-2 y 41 KOs.

En la pelea principal del respaldo, el campeón Intercontinental superwelter de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (AMB), el ecuatoriano-alemán Jack Culcay, defendió con éxito su cetro, al detener, por nocaut técnico en el quinto asalto, al ingles Mark Thompson.

Jack Culcay mejoró su invicto a 13-0 y 9 KO's. Mark Thompson quedó con marca de 24-2 y 14 KOs.
