The Mexican Pablo Cesar Cano became the new World Boxing Association Super Lightweight Interim champion when defeated by MD the Venezuelan Johan Perez on Saturday night at the Oasis Hotel in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The fight was stopped in the seventh round after an accidental head clash where Cano was cut in the right eye lid and the referee stopped the fight.

Judges Cesar Ramos and Hubert Earle saw Cano win 65-68, while Guillermo Pérez had the fight a draw 67-67.
 
This was the Venezuelan first title defense, who started the fight looking for a knock out but faced a strong Mexican that confused him in the ropes while punished him.
 
The new champion has a record of de 25-1-1, 19 KO’s, and Pérez loses for the first time has a record of 15-1-1, 12 KO’s.

El mexicano Pablo César Cano se convirtió en campeón interino de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, del peso superligero, al derrotar por decisión mayoritaria al venezolano Johan Pérez, la noche del sábado, en la pelea realizada en el Hotel Oasis de Cancún, Quintana Roo, México.

La pega fue suspendida en el séptimo round, después de producirse un cabezazo accidental por parte del Pérez que partió el párpado derecho de Cano, y el árbitro detuvo la batalla.
Los jueces César Ramos y Hubert Earle veían ganar a Cano 65-68, mientras que Guillermo Pérez tenía tarjeta de 67-67.
 
La pelea era la primera defensa del venezolano, quien salió buscando el triunfo pero se topó con un duro mexicano, que lo enredaba en las cuerdas y castigaba fuerte.

El nuevo campeón queda ahora con marca de 25-1-1, y 19 KO, y Pérez cae por primera vez en su carrera y queda con registro de 15-1-1, 12 KO.
