Cientos de personas, entre fanáticos y ex campeones mundiales de boxeo, participaron esta mañana de la maratón de 5 Kilómetros que se realizó en las calles de Canastota, NY, como parte de las actividades del fin de semana de inducciones al Salón de la Fama del Boxeo mundial.

A pesar de la lluvia que duró toda la mañana, los participantes no tuvieron problema en mojarse para cumplir su recorrido. La actividad fue bien organizada, en diferentes puntos hubo puestos para hidratarse, todo el camino estuvo señalizado, hubo seguridad y ambulancias.

Entre los ex campeones mundiales que participaron estuvieron Marvin Hagler, Micky Ward, Terry Norris e Hilario Zapata. Sugar Ray Leonard fue el encargado de dar la partida a los corredores.

El presidente y vice presidente de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, Gilberto Mendoza y Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, también participaron.

Al final de la maratón los organizadores entregaron medallas a los participantes que llegaron a la meta.

Las activididades del día continúan con vistas al museo, un cocktail con los campeones y cierra con un banquete a las 8 de la noche          
Mañana domingo terminan las actividades. Primero está programada una parada con los ex campeones mundiales por las calles de Canastota y luego finaliza el día con las inducciones al Salon de la Fama del Boxeo en el 2012.

Day 3 / International Boxing Hall of Fame

Hundreds of people, fan and former world champions, participated in the 5K marathon around Canastota Streets, this morning, as part of the Hall of Fame Induction weekend activities.

In spite of the rain that lasted all morning, the participants did not mind getting wet to run all the way.   The activity was very well organized, with signal, hydration posts, security and ambulance.

Among the runners, we could see champions like, Marvin Hagler, Micky Ward, Terry Norris and Hilario Zapata. Sugar Ray Leonard was at the start line.

The World Boxing Association President and Vice-president Gilberto Mendoza an Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, participated in the marathon.

The IBHOF gave medals to all the participants who made it to the end.

Activities continue all through the day, visit to the museum, and cocktail party for the champions and a banquet at 8 pm.

Tomorrow will be the closing of the induction weekend. First, there will be the traditional parade with all the champions attending the event, and the final event will be the induction of this 2012 edition of the Hall of Fame.
