This morning took place the Purse Bid for the mandatory fight between the Featherweight Champion Celestino "Pelenchin" Caballero and his mandatory challenger, Nicholas Walters, at the WBA headquarters. Canelo Boxing Promotion won the bidding. 

The Mexican Promoter Canelo Boxing, was represented by Mr. Patrick Buteau, who proposed December 1 in Kingston or Montego Bay or, December 8 in Kingston to promote the fight.
The only proposal on the table was from the Aztec group, representing the challenger Walters for $ 120,000. There was no representative of Panamanian champion Celestino "Pelenchin" Caballero.

Officials present were WBA Executive Vice-president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, Alan Kim, General PABA Director, Ratings Committee President and Vice-President Miguel Prado and Gustavo Padilla, and Championships Committee Vice-President, Aurelio Fiengo, who presided the bidding.

Before the bidding process began, Mendoza said that to the last minute all efforts were made to reach an agreement with the representatives of the Panamanian champion Celestino “Pelenchin” Caballero, and even though there was an offer made to Mayweather Promotions, there was no response.
 
Mendoza read all the mails made between both promoters offering one hundred sixty thousand dollar for the negotiation.
 
He also stressed "we have never harmed Caballero, or intended to do so as they are trying to reveal some media. We are just enforcing our regulations.
Mendoza’s words were backed by Fiengo’s, who reminded the negotiating process, the purse bid and the impossibility to reach an agreement.

Canelo Boxing Promotions ganó subasta Caballero vs Walter

Durante la mañana de este jueves se realizó, en las oficinas de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, la subasta de la pelea mandatoria entre el campeón pluma Celestino "Pelenchin" Caballero y el retador, Nicholas Walters, la cual ganó la Promotora Canelo.

La promotora mexicana Canelo Boxing, a través del señor Patrick Buteau, hizo la oferta de tres fechas para el compromiso: 1ro de diciembre en Kingston o Montego Bay , o el 8 de diciembre en la ciudad de Kingston.

La única propuesta en mesa fue la del grupo azteca, en representación del retador Walters, por 120 mil dólares. No hubo representante del campeón panameño Celestino “Pelenchin” Caballero.

Las autoridades presentes en la subasta fueron el Vicepresidente ejecutivo de la AMB, Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, el Director General de PABA Alan Kim como invitado, junto al Presidente y Vicepresidente del Comité de Clasificaciones AMB, Miguel Prado y Gustavo Padilla, además del Vicepresidente del Comité de Campeonatos, Aurelio Fiengo quien dirigió el acto.

Antes de la subasta, Mendoza comentó que hasta último momento se intentó llegar a un acuerdo con los representantes del campeón pluma, el panameño Celestino “Pelenchin” Caballero, sin embargo, a pesar de haberse realizado una oferta directa al grupo de Mayweather Promotions, no hubo respuesta.

Mendoza hizo lectura de los correos enviados entre los promotores de los peleadores, donde se ofrecía ciento sesenta mil dólares para la negociación.

También recalcó “en ningún momento hemos perjudicado a Caballero, o pretendido hacerlo como han querido dejar ver algunos medios. Solo aplicamos los reglamentos”.

Las palabras de Mendoza fueron respaldadas por Fiengo, quien también recordó todo el proceso de llamado a negociación, y posteriormente a subasta dada la imposibilidad de llegar al acuerdo.
