WORLD BOXING ASSOCIATION RATINGS CRITERIA ABC-WBA

1-     Ratings must be solely based on win/loss records, level of competition and activity. Records of any top (10) rated boxer must be verified.

 

 

1-     Ratings must be based on the following parameters:

I.       Record (win/loss)

II.     Activity  

III.  Caliber of contenders

IV.   Regional Recognition  

V.     WBA Achievement

Records of all the fifteen (15) rated boxers must be verified.

2-     No boxer can be rated in more than one division 2-     No boxer can be rated in more than one division
3-     For a boxer to be rated in the top ten (10) and to compete for a world title he/she must have competed in at least (2) ten-round bout.  To stay in the top ten (10) he/she: 3-     For a boxer to be rated in the fifteen (15) position and to compete for a world title he must have competed in at least (5) 10-round bout or have a regional title.  To stay in the ratings he:
a)     Must compete at least once during a 12-month period from the time the boxer gets rated and also must compete within six (6) pounds of his rated weight, and; a)     Must make one fight every 90 days from the time the boxer gets rated and must compete in his division.
b)     Must have competed against another top fifteen (15) rated boxer within a (18) eighteen-month period from the time the boxer gets rated. b)     Must fight against another top fifteen (15) rated boxer within a (18) eighteen-month period from the time the boxer gets rated.
A boxer who does not meet this level of competition shall not retain his/her rating.  Exceptions can only be made for injuries. A boxer who does not meet this level of competition shall not retain his/her rating.  Exceptions can only be made for injuries.
4-     If a top (10) rated boxer losses to an un-rated boxer, then the rated boxer should be lowered at least one position in the ratings.  The un-rated boxer should be considered for a rating somewhere in the top (15). 4-     If a top (15) rated boxer losses to an un-rated boxer, then the rated boxer should be lowered according to “DEMOTIONS IN CASE OF DEFEATS WITH NON-RATED BOXERS”. The un-rated boxer shall be considered for a rating. 
5-     If two boxers, are rated in the top (10) and compete against each other then the following shall apply: 5-     If two boxers, are rated in the top (15) and compete against each other then the following shall apply:
a-     If the lower ranked boxer wins, then this boxer shall be elevated in the ratings, and; a-      If the lower ranked boxer wins, then this boxer shall be promoted to the position of the defeated boxer. (See tables 1 through 6)
b-     The higher rated boxer shall be lowered in the ratings. b-     The higher rated boxer shall be demoted to the position of the boxer with the lower position in the ratings according to the decision
6- 6-     If a boxer in any top (15) position losses fighting for the World Title, the following tables of demotions shall be applied.
